The new ACS1 Sport Eco combines impressive fuel economy and band B (£35 a year) road tax with sporty dynamics and performance that belie its engine displacement. To create the ACS1 Sport Eco, AC Schnitzer UK utilises a BMW 118d EfficientDynamics hatchback as a donor car and adds superior ride and handling with its sports suspension package. The sports suspension creates a more aggressive road presence by lowering the vehicle and to add to this enhanced appearance we fit our front and roof spoilers. This is further aided by the fitment of our Type VI 18” alloy wheel and non run flat Continental Sport Contact 3 tyres.
Not content with purely improving the handling and ride quality, AC Schnitzer also pay particular attention to the engine, increasing the power by 28bhp and torque by 60Nm from BMWs claims of 143bhp and 300Nm respectively. Regarding economy, BMW claim an impressive combined 62.8 mpg for the standard car, a figure which, in reality needs some patience and skill to achieve in the real world. German TUV has now carried out an official test comparing a standard 118d and an AC Schnitzer tuned 118d. The ACS1 shows a loss of fuel consumption of only 1.4%. Deduct this from BMW’s claimed 62.8mpg (combined figure) and you still have potential economy of 61.9mpg despite a power increase of nearly 30 bhp. The car remains in the £35 per annum road fund license 119g/km bracket.
For added visual presence both inside and out, the trademark AC Schnitzer sports tail pipe, illuminated gear knob and floor mats are fitted and the cars unique livery is applied.
